# How to make a quiz with scoring

Short answer: describe the quiz to an AI assistant that's connected to
QuizGen and it hands back a live link — scoring included — in under a
minute. If you'd rather build it yourself, it's one JSON POST. Both paths
below, plus when a spreadsheet-style tool is honestly the better pick.

A "quiz with scoring" means every answer is worth points, each response
gets a total score, and the result the respondent sees (and the result you
see) depends on that score. That covers graded tests ("7/10 correct"),
lead qualification ("score ≥ 4 → book a call"), and "which one are you"
quizzes (buckets instead of grades).

If you use Claude or ChatGPT, you don't need to build anything. Connect

## Do it yourself: one POST

Scoring lives in the `outcomes` block. Points map each question's answer
values to points; buckets turn the total into a result screen. POST this body to

The response includes the live `url`. Unauthorized you get a sandbox quiz
(72 hours, 10 responses) plus a claim link; authorized, it's permanent. Correct-answer
grading and weighted scoring are the same mechanism — just vary the point
values.

## See their results

Every stored response carries `score` and `outcome`:

- `GET /quizzes/:id/responses` — each answer set with its score and bucket.
- `GET /quizzes/:id/stats` — views, completion rate, and a per-outcome
  breakdown ("how many passed?").
- [A webhook](/blog/quiz-response-webhooks) — each completed response
  POSTs itself to your endpoint, score included, so you can route
  `qualified` to Slack or a CRM without polling.

Respondents see the bucket you defined (title, body, optional
`redirect_url` — useful for "you passed → here's the certificate link").

## When something else is the better tool

Honest answers, since "quiz with scoring" covers several jobs:

- **Google Forms** — free, and fine if you want to hand-build a basic
  graded quiz in a visual editor and read results in a spreadsheet. No
  score-based result screens beyond right/wrong review, and webhooks
  require Apps Script.
- **Typeform** — the polished conversational look, score and outcome
  quizzes included, built in an editor rather than from JSON. Costs more,
  and there's no sandbox-style instant API path.
- **Kahoot / Quizizz** — live, projected classroom quizzes. Different job:
  synchronous play, not a link you send out and collect scores from.
