Free AI quiz generator: a real quiz without paying

Short answer: paste one line into Claude or ChatGPT and you get a live, hosted quiz link back — no payment, and for a first try, no account either. QuizGen's sandbox lets an AI create a quiz with zero sign-up; the free plan then gives you 3 live quizzes with 100 answers per quiz per month.

Most "free AI quiz generators" do half the job: they write question text, then leave you to copy it into some other tool, rebuild it by hand, and hit a paywall at the hosting step. Here the AI path ends in a shareable quizgen.dev/q/... URL, not a wall of text.

How to do it

Paste this into any chat with Claude or ChatGPT:

"Use quizgen.dev to build me a quiz — read quizgen.dev/llms.txt first, then make it and send me the link."

Then describe the quiz in plain English — topic, number of questions, whether you want a score at the end. The AI reads quizgen.dev/llms.txt, builds the quiz, and hands you the live link. With no account, that's a sandbox quiz: live immediately, works on phones, autosaves answers — but it expires after 72 hours and caps at 10 responses. You also get a claim link; open it to sign up free and keep the quiz and its answers.

What free actually includes

The free plan (sign up at quizgen.dev/login):

• 3 live quizzes, 100 answers per quiz per month, responses kept 90 days
• 16 of the 18 question types — choice, multi-choice, scale, star rating, slider, yes/no, date, time, email, and more. The two exceptions are payment (Business) and file_upload (Pro or Business)
• Branching (show_if), scoring and outcome buckets, completion redirects
• A webhook on 1 quiz
• Custom accent color

That's enough for a real classroom quiz, a lead-qualification form, or a "which one are you?" quiz with results — not a crippled demo.

What needs a paid plan

• Volume: more than 3 live quizzes or 100 answers/quiz/month — Pro ($15/mo) is unlimited quizzes and 5,000 answers/quiz/month
• Branding: theme presets, custom fonts, logo, and removing the "Powered by QuizGen" footer (free keeps the footer and accent-only theming)
• Email delivery: sending the quiz to a recipient list with per-person tracking and auto-reminders
• Tracking extras: hidden fields for UTM/campaign capture; webhooks on every quiz instead of one
• Business ($49/mo): 25,000 answers/quiz/month, in-quiz Stripe payments, 5,000 email sends/month, 25 MB file uploads

The honest limits of free

100 answers per quiz per month is plenty for a class or a small campaign, but a quiz that takes off will hit the cap — the page then stops accepting responses until the month rolls over (existing answers stay readable). Responses are kept 90 days, so export anything you want to keep long-term. And your quiz will carry the QuizGen footer. If none of that bites, there's no reason to pay.
